Jiaoxi has many ecological scenic spots, the most notable of which is Wufengqi Waterfall; in winter visitors can view the waterfall and, in summer, play in the water, making this a suitable spot for families. Surrounded by mountains on three sides, Longtan Lake offers expansive views and lots of leisure space; fun can be had cycling or walking around the lake. In addition, there are Linmei’s Shipan Trail with its rich ecology, Paoma Ancient Road from which you can see from high far into the distance, and Marian Hiking Trail, which is worth exploring in depth. These scenic spots can be enjoyed in half a day and are recommended for those who want to engage in eco-tourism when visiting Jiaoxi.

The historic sites of Jiaoxi, such as the old home of the founding settler of Yilan, Wu Sha, and Wunuan Stone Bridge, are good places to start getting to know Jiaoxi. Xietan Temple, the main Guandi (Emperor Guan) temple of north Taiwan, and the Erlong River dragon boats races at Dragon Boat Festival time, represent different local customs. Here, you can visit Mary Leu Fine Art Carving gallery and view works by a local artist; there are also a number of tourist factories that can be visited, such as Lin-mei Kumquat Exhibition Hall, AGRIOZ and Kuchen Kenwort Museum, the factories ideal for family visits; as well as seeing things made, tasty gifts can also be bought to take home for family and friends.

Fish pond experience, bird watch at Shichao
Shichao Agricultural Leisure Area combines wetlands ecological education, winter bird watching and fine fish pond food. Not to be missed by nature lovers is bird watching at Shichao in winter time, and Shichao Waterbird Refuge near Wendi Drainage Channel is the best spot around. Birds spending the winter in Taiwan to avoid the cold of their northern homes include the egret, grey heron, black-headed gull, wood sandpiper, yellow wagtail and the protected black-faced spoonbill. Visitors can also try their hand at fish rubbing, weaving and other things at Dawen Tourist Aquafarm and also visit Yilan Soft-shelled Turtle Aquafarm and King Car Shrimp Aquafarm.
